For too long, we’ve been celebrating the culture of busyness. Wearing our never-ending to-do lists like a badge of honour. And, if we are not running around in a frazzled state, we aren’t successful. How backwards is that?

Well, it’s time to put a stop to that. Here are seven simple ways to stop basing your sense of self-worth on your productivity. And by the way, we’re not saying productivity is bad (we are your productivity partners, after all!) we’re saying there’s a better way to do it…

And here’s how:

Meditate

start Here:

1. Turn off tech. It’s much too easy to get negatively influenced by perceived levels of success on social media. Take a break and reflect on your goals and priorities. And to help you do that…

2. Write it down. Keeping a gratitude journal helps to keep a positive perspective.

3. Meditate. You don’t have to be a zen master or have any particular skill set (or spend a lot of money). A couple minutes of mindful breathing every day will help reset the nervous system and promote lower stress levels while boosting mental clarity.

To Do List

Next Steps:

4. Make time to workout. Much like meditating and journaling, working out has tremendous benefits far beyond building physical strength. At The Motion Room, we have created different ways to carve time out for yourself. Work out with your bubble or alone, find out more here.

5. Consider a second opinion. Sometimes, we get so ‘bogged down’ by what we feel to be lacking in our lives that we stop focusing on the positive and we become unable to forge a clear path forward. Consider having a check-in with a coach. At The Coaching Company, we’ve created membership based coaching that is first and foremost accessible to all. Find out more here

And Finally:

6. Cut your to-do list in half. What? Doesn’t that seem counter-intuitive? Maybe. But taking things off your list that truly do not need to be accomplished by you (can you say, delegate?!) will help you immensely. You’ll be able to focus on the things that actually matter. So look at your list and ask yourself what can be done by others.

7. Get in the habit of habits. Yep. Rituals equal rewards. You’ll never achieve great things if you have a disorganized mind. So create simple habits (like getting up early) that set up for success. And if you’re looking for a bad habit to drop, see #1 at the top of this list!

Final tip: Make it a habbit
