I have been working out since January, and eating well and I have had success over the months leading up to July. I had my check-in session this past weekend, and didn’t see any progression from my last check in session. Is it failure? Have I just wasted the last 3 months?

I should feel really bad about that, but I don’t. I managed to maintain over the last 3 months. I’ve gone through some changes over the last three months. I started a new job in June and in September, I started the ultimate adventure – I went back to school! I am studying to be a registered holistic nutritionist. This is a lot all at once, and so I see the fact that I maintained over the last 3 months is a form of success. I did put on 2 lbs since my last check in and I’m not as strong as I was just 3 months ago.

It would be so easy to give up and forget about the keeping up with exercise and eating well, but that’s what most people do. But as I’ve said before, this is not a diet but a lifestyle change. I will continue to work hard, and I expect to see the needle go in the other direction within the next month.

I’m more settled in my job, and 6 weeks into school, so now I need to refocus my efforts over the next few months so that I continue to build on the successes I had prior to the changes in my life.

I saw this quote on @women_fit today, which I think sums up how I feel:

It’s okay if you try and fail, but it’s not okay if you fail to try.

So, I will continue to work hard. After-all, a lifestyle change means being able to adapt when things change in your life. I know it takes time, so I’ll put in the time to achieve my goals. And with the good folks at The Motion Room on my team, I know I will succeed.
